Section Chair
Allan has held the positions of Vice Chair and Publicity Chair with the ASQ in past years. He has an extensive background in Quality Management and Continuous Improvement in the Oil and Gas, Manufacturing and Pharmaceutical sectors. He is employed as the QMS Lead with Enbridge Pipelines Inc. in Edmonton. He is a Six Sigma Black Belt and ASQ CMQOE and holds degrees in Chemical Engineering and Statistics. Nomination & Past Section Chair - Akhilesh Manchanda, B.Eng, P. Eng.
Akhilesh is a Senior Member with ASQ, he has been on the member leaders committee since 2001 and has served as Section Chair from July 2006 – June 2009, he is a Professional Engineer registered with APEGGA, a member with ICE, Edmonton and SME, US. Akhilesh is an Engineering graduate with extensive background in systems development and management,. Akhilesh has more than 19 years of diverse professional experience in operations, Enterprise Excellence, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma Methodology, Integrated Management System audits and quality systems developments in electrical, electronics, semiconductor, instrumentation, appliances manufacturing, projects management, pipelines and oil & gas industry including CNC machining-manufacturing facilities as lead electronics, instrumentation, controls personnel & quality engineer/manager. He has extensive experience in implementation and evaluations of ISO-9001, API Q1 / ISO TS 29001, ISO 14001, ASME, ABSA and CSA approval systems. He is currently practicing quality principles with Enbridge Pipeline Inc and can be contacted through e-mail: akhilesh@canada.com Vice Chair – Viswanathan Ganapathy, P.Eng., MBA Viswanathan Ganapahy is a graduate in Science & Engineering and a MBA from Strathclyde University, Glasgow, UK. He is currently employed as Project Quality Manager with Colt Worley Parsons, Edmonton, Alberta. Vis has extensive experience in the planning & implementation of ISO 9001, API Q1, ISO 29001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certifications. Vis is an IRCA certified QMS 2000 lead auditor and IEMA certified provisional EMS auditor. Vis is also a Philip Crosby Associates trained TQM Facilitator. Vis holds a NEBOSH, UK certification in occupational health and safety and is a member of APEGGA. He is a senior member of American Society of Quality , a member of American Society of Safety Engineers and also a member of Chartered Quality Institute, UK. Vis is ASQ Edmonton section (0410) Section Management Process (SMP) chair from the year 2006 onwards, responsible for the planning and implementation services and programs that will meet the needs of the current and future members. Secretary & VOC Chair – Puneet Manchanda, MBA, PMP Puneet has Master of Business Administration degree with specialization in Marketing. He is currently employed as a Quality Professional with Enbridge Pipeline Inc.. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and A registered member with Project Management Institute. Puneet is Secretary and Voice of Customer Chair and a Senior member of ASQ. Puneet has 20 years of combined professional experience in the area of Power Products, IT and ISO 9001 Quality System. Vick is a graduate in Chemical Engineering & has been a member of APEGGA since 2001. Vick has been serving ASQ Edmonton section executive board since 2002. He obtained ASQ certifications as ‘Certified Quality Manager/Organizational Excellence’ in 2003, ‘Certified Quality Engineer’ in 2004 & ‘Certified Six Sigma Black Belt’ in 2005. He had the opportunity to be the part of the team for ASQ ‘Certified Six Sigma Green Belt’ exam review in 2006. Vick is also a certified Lead Auditor for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 management systems. He currently works for Vetco Gray Canada Inc. as Manager QHSE & Six Sigma. Treasurer - Terry Fung, P.Eng., CQE. Terry graduated from University of Alberta in Chemical Engineering Co-Op. program and has been a member of APEGGA since1989 and obtained the professional Engineer status in 1991. In 1992, Terry became a Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) through ASQ. Terry has been a part of the ASQ Edmonton section in various roles over the years including Certification/Re-certification Chair, Newsletter Chair and Treasurer. He has been working in the manufacturing sector for more than 20 years in chemical plants, thermoplastic pipe manufacturing, Enterprise Resource Planning system (SAP) implementation, and specialized metal powder manufacturing including
Newsletter Editor - Deepak D. Arora Deepak is a graduate in Science and Mechanical Engineering. He has been ASQ member since 2006 and member leader since 2007. Deepak is currently working with LRI Perforating Systems Inc. as Quality Manager. He has extensive experience towards planning, implementation and assessment of QMS ISO 9001:2000. Deepak is a certified Lead Auditor for QMS ISO 9001:2000 and registered with IRCA, UK. He has 21 years of experience in quality and manufacturing of machined products including 3 years of experience in third party audit on QMS. Membership Chair & Internet Liaison - Richard Roy, B.Eng, M.Biotech, CQA Richard graduated from McGill University in Chemical Engineering and received a Masters in Biotechnology from the University of Toronto. In 2007 Richard became a Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) through ASQ. Richard has many years experience working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device sectors (ISO 13485). He is employed as Quality Systems Manager at Guardian Chemicals Inc. in Fort Saskatchewan overseeing ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001. Placement Chair - Manjit Sekhon, C.E.T. Manjit is post graduate in Industrial Engineering & currently pursuing Master’s in Engineering Management at University of Alberta . He is working with Weatherford as Quality Assurance Manager. He has over 10 years of experience in productivity improvement, and implementation & evaluation of ISO 9001 QMS. Sherif is a graduate in Mechanical Engineering & is a P.Eng. in both Ontario & Alberta. Sherif got his MBA from the Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands with focus in International Business. Sherif has been serving ASQ Edmonton section executive board since 2006. He obtained ASQ certifications as ‘Certified Quality Engineer in 2003, & ‘Certified Six Sigma Black Belt’ in 2006.Also, he is a sigma sigma green belt. Sherif obtained his lean bronze certification is 2008. Sherif has more than 15 years deployment of continuous improvement, process improvement and organizational excellence in manufacturing, projects management and oil & gas industry including CNC machining. Sherif is also an executive member of the SME Edmonton chapter and he is certified welding engineer and certified design engineer with transport Canada. Sherif has developed and lead several lean six sigma programs. He has been involved in the pipeline industry, domestically and internationally, for over thirty years. His expertise in the application of ISO 9001 quality management systems has been provided both as an operator of pipelines and as a consultant to the pipeline industry. Mr. Hamilton is a registered professional engineer in the Provinces of Alberta and Ontario. He is also a NACE certified cathodic protection specialist, and a senior member of ASQ. Your executive began a business planning process last spring and is continuing to develop the strategy, objectives, goals and measures to ensure the long term viability of the section and to deliver meaningful events and programs to the membership in Northern Alberta.
