Title: Fundamentals of Reliability Engineering
Reliability Engineering is often confused with other specialties such as Maintenance Engineering even Risk Analysis. This presentation will introduce the fundamental concepts of Reliability Engineering in line with the ASQ’s Certified Reliability Engineering (CRE) guidelines and as practiced in an operating environment such as Enbridge Liquids Pipelines but also in a Refinery or Manufacturing plant. This includes the “academic definition” of Reliability as well as the derived tools and concepts used to ensure that an operating asset will provide adequate return on its capital investment over its defined lifecycle. The concepts will be supported by examples of studies and derived benefits including strategic decision making as well as some tools and processes used to enhance asset reliability.
